Psychiatry: a branch of medicine that deals with mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
(Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, pg. 950)

Psychiatrist: A physician specializing in psychiatry. That field of scientific thought and practice in medicine and psychology, which aims to discover and or correct mental derangements.
(Webster’s Encyclopedic Dictionary, pg. 580)

The Bible’s aim is to correct mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. It deals with correcting mental derangements.
God did not fall short of adequately offering solutions.

As a result of the fall of man, many keep trying to figure out solutions to the problems of the world... without Christ, rejecting Godly Biblical solutions.

Matthew 22:37-39
And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38) This is the great and foremost commandment. 39) The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is,
that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Since psychiatrists do not want to go God’s way, they keep trying the worldly way. When psychiatrists are not able to solve the mental problems people have, drugs are prescribed. Their answer is drugging people up to the point of subduing them. The real problem in most cases is:

Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Simple solution:

James 4:7-8
Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Psychiatrists have a great scapegoat: chemical imbalance, which is an excuse for mental and behavioral characteristics that they can’t solve. Let’s not get too uptight with them. It is to be expected with people who have rejected Christ. It should be noted that there are many well meaning, compassionate people, some who are Christians, who see the problems and attempt to help the down and out in their plight of receiving the consequence of living without Christ.

Christian counselors… Christian psychiatrists… are the real bad guys! The Christian counselors say: “Oh we don’t just use all that worldly psycho stuff. We also use Biblical principles as a means to help people. What could be so wrong with that?”
Answer: Bible principles are not for sale!!!

How a Christian counselor could require a hurting person needing help to pay for God’s Biblical principles is beyond me. God commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves. The counselors are peddling God’s Word to the hurting people of the world, but only to the ones that can pay big money per hour to get the help they so desperately need.

If they want to help people with Biblical principles, they should become ministers of God’s Word. I know many ministers are overworked and would just as soon have someone else take care of the confused person’s problems.

Those ministers should reconsider whether they should be in the ministry. Churches should reconsider how Church money is being spent. There should be more ministers on staff, if the load is too heavy. Cut out some of the other expenses and never forget Christianity is all about people and people have problems.

The Bible deals with the mind.

1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Ephesians 4:22-24
That, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lust of deceit, 23) and that you be renew in the spirit of your mind. 24) and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4) for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5) We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 Peter 5:6-9
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7) casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you. 8) Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9) But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.

Ephesians 6:13
Therefore take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

Now we all know these abusers of the faith charge people by the hour to listen to their problems. What about sharing Bible verses and principles with them? Is there also a charge for Biblical solutions to problems? You bet there is!

Charging people for Bible counseling is what makes these merchandisers of the faith so very evil.

There are many Biblical solutions to mankind’s problems, starting with becoming born again through trusting in Jesus Christ as one’s personal Savior. Many troubled people have an identity problem.

They do not know and believe who they are in Christ.

A member of a chosen race (1 Peter 2:9).
All your sins are forgiven (Colossians 2:13).
Your body is now a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).
You now have peace between you and God (Romans 5:1).
You have been glorified (Romans 8:30).

Nothing can separate you from the love of God (Romans 8:35-39).
You will be magnified with Christ (Colossians 3:4).
Your citizenship is transferred to heaven (Philippians 3:20).
Angels now render service to you (Hebrews 1:4).
You are now a personal ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).

It’s all possible that anyone can have peace like a river and joy like fountain, a purpose for living and hope for the future, that Jesus Christ freely offers.

There is much the Bible has to offer.

For example, show me a person who is honestly attempting to follow the example of the life of the Lord Jesus Christ and I will show you a person that needs no “Christian counselor.”

A total commitment to Christ is the answer! The question is:
“Are you willing?”

The problem of hate, the problem of anger, the problem of jealousy, the problem of depression, the problem of bitterness, the problem of unforgivness, these are not new, but old and are covered in the Bible.

REPENT… REPENT… REPENT

Within the world and the churches the word “repent” is not a popular term. “Repent” implies something negative about the person. Moreover, the world and the churches lean toward positive thinking. The churches do not want to suggest anything negative toward one of their members because of fear that they will lose the member and the $$$.

Turn to Jesus
Turn from sin

Define what sin is.
Without addressing the problem, a solution cannot be found.
The Bible covers the problems.
The Bible offers the solution.
The person is required to act.

The Christian counselor and psychiatrist should repent and realize:

$$$ Jesus did not Charge money!

$$$ Paul did not Charge money!

$$$ The apostles did not Charge money.....

Except Judas! $$$

Certainly those in full time ministry should be entitled to money. How else will they pay the light and heating bills and provide for their families? My issue is with anyone that requires a hurting person that needs help to have to pay for Biblical help before help is given. In other words if you have the money, I will Biblically help you. But if you don’t have the money, too bad for you. The churches should make this kind of help available as a ministry of the Church.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

In conclusion:
If you’re depressed...
Go talk to someone about Jesus.

If you’re lonely…
Go talk to someone about Jesus.

If you have a sense of no worth...
Go talk to someone about Jesus.

If your family has problems...
Go talk to someone about Jesus, together.

If you want to feel good and be used of God...
Go talk to someone about Jesus.
