THE BIBLE AND WOMEN

The reason this subject is so important, is because it is a dead giveaway what a person thinks of the Word of God, when you see how he or she handles this subject.

The problem is that many woman are militant,
even though it may be covered with apparent Christian love.

To suggest looking at what the Bible says
many automatically think you are trying to place them back in the dark-ages.

Men often times are even worst in their sheepish dispositions.
Rather than a love for scriptural truths, they make the same mistake Adam made in caressing the woman rather than the Word of God.

The reason this subject is so important, is because it is a dead
giveaway what a person thinks of the Word of God,
when you see how he or she handles this subject.

Women are extremely important to God.
To say men are better then women is wrong.
But they have different roles and responsibilities
as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit do.

The woman's role should not be one of competition with the man or resentment of the man's role in God's plan. It certainly should not be one of attempting to rearrange scriptures to homogenize the different positions in to one.

The Christian woman's attitude should be,
"What does the bible say about the role God has for me?
Now through the grace of God
let me try to be what you have for me Lord".

We see in Genesis 2:24, that the two are to become one flesh,
indicating that God's plan was for each man to have his own wife
and each wife to have her own husband, the two becoming one flesh.

We see in Genesis 3:16 a profound statement:
"And he shall rule over you".

We see in 1 Corinthians 11:3 :
But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man,
and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.

We are living in a day that to believe in absolutes
is thought of as being primitive.
To believe almost anything with certainty places you under suspicion.

Many of the Christian leaders have made the Bible
out to be so complicated that people sincerely believe
we just can't know. It is all so relative.

As a result of the fall, we see many things change in relationship to God's intent before the fall.

As a result of the action of the women and the judgment of God, we see
a chain of male rule in Bible history, right up to our present time.

Example: God has almost always used men
to represent Him on the planet earth.
Almost all the writers of the Bible were men.
All positions of authority rest on men.

The Rev.Charlie Caverno M.A., D.D., LL.D.
The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia pg. 863
"The marriage relation from the standpoint of Hebrew legislation was looked upon very largely as a business affair, a mere question of property."

This was the way of God's people.

Things are different today.

For example: Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself up for her;

Now we know in heaven there is neither going to be marrying
or the giving in marriage. We will all be one in Christ.

However, the Bible indicates on this earth a pattern
for men and women, that all should want to follow. -

For example:….. Ephesians 5:22-24
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23) For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the Church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
24) But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

We are going to look at a few more examples in the Bible. To reveal God's intention for women revealed in the scriptures.

1 Corinthians 14:34 "Let the woman keep silent in the Churches; for they are not permitted to speak."

1 Corinthians 14:38 "But if any one does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

1 Timothy 2:11-14
"Let a woman quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
12) But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but remain quiet.
13) For it was Adam who was first created and then Eve.
14) And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression".

This is not to say women are not important to God,
or that women are not very valuable to His plan for the human race.
As a result of the fall, women have been placed in a different role than men.

What do you love the most?

God and His Word, or your own desires?

This is a tough area for most women.
But ignoring it or to manipulate the Scriptures
is dangerous ground.

These are not negative verses against women, but the Word of God.

Yes, man has a great deal of responsibility in his role towards the woman.
And if he does not use his position correctly, there are going to be problems.
The woman's foremost desire should be to please God through her faithfulness to the Word of God.

A big mistake is made for a person to mystically
come up with a non- Bible view
wrapped in apparent "Christian Love," making these Biblical principles of no real value in our present day.

These words were said for a reason and mean something today.

Two great mistakes are made:
(1) To label someone "legalistic" for placing current day application on these verses. (2) To assume the person placing current day application on these verses is misusing the verses.

A man of God should not have to apologize
for these verses being in the Bible,
nor be afraid to implement his God given authority.

If a women is bent on living in rebellion, you won't change her.

It is Biblically wrong for the woman to have the attitude of:
"I will be submissive, only when I think my husband is treating me right."

A Godly woman living submissively with her husband,
can count on God correcting him, if he is out of order.
There is nothing wrong with her being submissive and at the same time reminding him of Godly principles.
(Praying that God might change him).

Jesus:
Picked 12 apostles....not 6 apostles and 6 apostlees.

Paul said:
1 Corinthians 11:3

But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man,
and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.

Timothy says:

1 Timothy 2:11-14

Peter says:

I Peter 3:1

In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the Word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives.

1 Peter 3:7
You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow-heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Does not this raise difficulties with the Biblical doctrine of subordination of married women (Eph. 5:22-23)? Not at all. This doctrine refers to a hierarchy of function, not of dignity or value. There is no inferiority of person implicit in the doctrine. God has designated a hierarchy of responsibility, hence authority, within the family, and he has done so according to the order of creation.
