HOME BIBLE STUDIES
1 Pet 3:15
but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always {being} ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
Home Bible Studies can be fun, enjoyable, and effective.
Home Bible Studies provide a wonderful opportunity for a christian to do something pleasing to God.
Watching and helping someone getting new life is a Blessing.
Watching and helping a Christian to grow in their understanding and knowledge of the Scriptures and God is a Blessing.
So why not give it a try?
1. A neighbor, a friend, a fellow-student, a fellow-worker, or a member of your family.
2. Ask if they can spare an hour a week for the next six to eight weeks.
3. Tell them something like; I would like to share with you what Christians believe and why they believe it.
4. Set the time. Once you get to the meeting place on time, sitting at a table open your Bible to the table of contents. Explain how the table works and tell him it will be helpful if He can us it in looking up verses with you during the Study time.
5. Simply read the study and comment as you continue to look up verses.Following my outline is not accentual, start where you want end where you want.
6. Remember each week you come back, that it is good to review the last study from the week before.
7. Conducting a home Bible study takes perseverance, time and personal involvement.
8. Ask questions like What does this verse say?” and What do you think it meant to those to whom it was written? Speak slowly and clearly. Do not read to fast.
9. When asked a question you do not know the answer, DO NOT PANIC. Take a deep breath, smile and say that is a good question, but you don;t know the answer. Do not give an answer just to give an answer.Tell them you will try to find the answer for them, and then do it.
10. Try to have them look up all the Scriptures. The end result will be that they are spending most of their time in the Bible.
11. Be enthusiastic, be honest, be open to their opinion, be a good listener to what they are discovering {even if you already know it}.
12. Give of yourself, enjoy yourself, be yourself.
13. Don;t tell them all you know. Let them discover truth for themselves.Illustration: You provide the tools, but let them find the jewels!

THE BIBLE Old Testament 39 books New Testament 27 books THE BIBLE ASSERTS ITSELF.
It says that it is the true Word of God.
A person can say that he does not believe that it is the Word of God.
Yes. But no one has the right to say, "This part is from God, and this other part is not from God", you either accept it in its entirety, or you reject it in its entirety.
The Bible is the most unique of all books;
there is none like it!
Written over a 1500 year period.
Written over 40 generations.
Written by well over 40 different authors from all walks of life:
Moses, a political leader
Peter, a fisherman
Amos, a herdsman
Joshua, a military general
Solomon, a king
Daniel, a prime minister
Luke, a doctor and historian
Paul, a converted Jewish Rabbi
Matthew, a Roman tax collector
Ezra, a scribe
God is no respecter of persons.
Get your heart right and He will use you.
4. Written on three continents: 1. Asia 2. Africa 3. Europe
5. Written in three languages: 1. Hebrew 2. Aramaic 3. Greek
6. It contains many different types of literature:
History
Law...civil, criminal, ethical, ritualistic, sanitary, Religious poetry, Teaching dissertations, Lyric poetry, Parables, Allegories, Biographies, Personal Memoirs, Personal Correspondence, Diaries, Prophetic Literature, End Times Revelations
When we put all these facts together, knowing the Bible was written on hundreds of controversial issues with complete harmony, this makes it the most unique book in the history of the world.
The writers were directed by God so that what they said, to the very word, was exactly what God wanted them to say. God used the mind, personality, experience, and feelings of these men as they wrote their message down.
(1) 2 Samual 23:2, (2) Jeremiah 1:9, (3) Isaiah 59:21
Contrary to the writers of today who take credit for their own writings, the writers of the Bible gave all the credit to God!
(1) 2 Timothy 3:16, (2) 2 Peter 1:21
God gave us the Bible in 66 books. He gave them literally and we are to accept them literally unless it is figurative or symbolic language. In that case word pictures are being used to express true concepts.
The number one topic in the Bible, is, of course, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The OLD TESTAMENT was His preparation ‑ Isaiah 40:3
The GOSPELS tell us of His first coming ‑ John 1:1, 14
The book of ACTS tells of the early church preaching Christ ‑ Acts 1:8
The EPISTLES explain His relationship to believers ‑ Colossians 1:27
REVELATION tells us of His second coming and future events ‑ Rev. 1:7
We could say that the Bible is a real miracle, and if you read and believe it you may become a real miracle too!
Genesis 1:1 is either a true statement or its a bold‑faced lie.
Genesis 1:2 is either a true statement or its a bold‑faced lie.
The Bible is either a book of truth...one truth piled on top of another truth, or it is a book of lies...one lie piled on top of another lie. If its a book of lies it is hard to believe it could have done so much good for the human race!
One guy said: “I won’t believe the Bible till it’s proven!”
Another guy said: “I will believe the Bible until it’s disprove!”
A guy listened to both and said:
Well, if I wait till it’s proven, then where will I be?
Well, if I do believe, what will it hurt?
Without question the Bible stands in and of itself. It is all any of us need to come to spiritual maturity.
In light of this wonderful truth, God has given all of us additional blessings by providing us with Biblical tools produced to better under stand what the Bible is saying. For example:
BI BLE COMMENTARIS:
A Bible Commentary is a verse by verse, or passage by passage explanation of the Bible. If you find a verse hard to understand you can look up that passage in a commentary (in much the same way as you would look up a verse in the Bible) and see what it has to say concerning that verse.
LANGUAGE HELPS:
The Bible was not written in English. The original languages are Hebrew and Greek primarily. Therefore language helps have been produced to help us better understand original meanings of words. For example: Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, etc.
BIBLE DICTIONARIES:
These function in the same way as normal dictionaries, except they only deal with biblical issues.
TOPICAL STUDIES:
These are works dealing with specific topics in depth. For example, Josh McDowell wrote a two‑volume series called EVIDENCE THAT DEMANDS A VERDICT, and MORE EVIDENCE THAT DEMANDS A 'VERDICT dealing with reasons why the Christian faith is true.

GOD
The Father… The Son… The Holy Spirit
All are separate, yet one and the same.
The Bible does not explain the Godhead. It simply gives us the facts. We accept in faith what God has revealled concerning Himself. We are limited and do not have the capacity to understand an infinite God. The Godhead cannot be scientifically analyzed by the human mind. We can only know as much about God as He chooses to reveal to us.
A biographer of John Wesley (1703‑1791) said this about the Godhead;
In preaching on the Trinity, he observed, it was our duty to believe according to the word of God: but we are not called to comprehend; that is impossible. (He is infinite and we are finite.)
Bring me, he said, a worm that can comprehend man; and I will show you a man that can comprehend God.
HERE ARE THE BIBLE FACTS ABOUT GOD
1. The Father is called God ‑ 2 Peter 1:17
2. Jesus Christ is called God ‑ John 20:28
3. The Holy Spirit is called God ‑ Acts 5:1‑4
All three are called God, and yet the Bible is dogmatic as to there being only ONE God!
(1) Isaiah 43:10, (2) Deuteronomy 6:4, (3)Isaiah 44:6
WHAT IS THE ANSWER TO THIS? It is called the INCARNATION. That is, God came down as a man to be our Savior.
(1) Philippians 2:6‑8, (2) John 1:1 with 1:14, (3) Colossians 2:9
God, who is ONE, functions within His creation as a Trinity. The Bible calls this the Godhead. Here are two interesting illustrations from Scripture:
All three are spoken of as the Creator.
The Father ‑ 1 Corinthians 8:6
The Son, Jesus Christ ‑ Hebrews 1:10
The Holy Spirit ‑ Psalms 104:30
All three claimed to raise Jesus from the dead.
The Father ‑ Acts 3:26
The Son, Jesus Christ ‑ John 2:19‑ 21
The Holy Spirit ‑ Romans 8:11
The Godhead, though incomprehensible to the mortal mind, has been clearly revealed in the Scriptures. There are many fine books out amplifying this wonderful truth. For further information contact your local Christian bookstore.

To show God's righteousness. Romans 3:21, 5:20, Romans 7:7, 12
Man kept breaking the Law!… breaking the Law!… breaking the Law!
Then there were prophets which were sent by God to turn the people back to Himself...
...BUT
The people stoned and killed the prophets.
Some of these mighty men of God were:
Isaiah… Jeremiah… Ezekiel… Daniel… Hosea… Amos… Joel… Micah…Habakkuk…Haggai…Malachi…John the Baptist
Today we think of a prophet as a man who foresees the future. But the Biblical prophets had a greater mission. 'They wanted to make God's will clear to men. They did sometimes speak of future punishment and reward, but their main interest was in guiding their fellow‑men right at that time. They endured sharp criticism from the religious leaders and unbelievers of their day. They stood up for God's righteousness against all degrees of persecution…………. Then the Apostles began to fulfill the Great Commission. Matthew 28:16‑20
And the other followers of Jesus also preached wherever they went. Acts 8:1‑4
Then God appointed the Apostle Paul. Acts 9:1‑16
The church started to grow. Several Apostles, including Paul wrote letters to the churches.
They were written to build the believers in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John wrote about the earthly life of Jesus Christ.
Acts, written by Luke, was to explain the founding of the church.
However, not all that is recorded in the Bible is history. Much concerns itself with this present day and those days, which are yet future.

EVENTS TO COME
Paul wrote Timothy of the condition in which the world would find itself in
2 Timothy 3:1‑7 and 4:1‑4.
VERY MUCH LIKE OUR OWN DAY, ISN'T IT?
He describes what will happen to the church in
1 Thessalonians 4:16‑18, 1 Corinthians 15:42‑44, and 50‑54.
The eternal state of all believers is seen in
Revelation 21 and 22.
CONTRAST THIS WITH...
The Great White Throne Judgment which is for the unbelievers.
Revelation 20:11‑15
The eternal state of all unbelievers as seen in
Revelation 21:8!
There must be a solution since the Bible says that man is responsible for his decision regarding his eternal destiny.
WHAT A POSITION IN WHICH TO FIND ONE'S SELF!
Sincerity is nice, but its hardly the standard for determining truth. For example; say I plan a trip to Alaska. I make all the needed preparations, and then purchase my ticket. On the day of my departure I drive to the airport to board my plane. However, instead of boarding the plane destined for Alaska, I wrongly board a plane destined for China. I'm convinced in my heart that I sincerely made the right choice. I sincerely planned on going to Alaska, and I sincerely believe that is where I am h e a d e d QUESTION: When the plane lands where will I be? ANSWER: China! You see, sincerity is good, but it is possible to be sincerely wrong. When we are dealing with eternal life we cannot afford to be wrong.

THE SPIRIT FILLED CHRISTIAN LIFE ...
1. God dwells in the Spirit and is able to communicate with people through their conscience and intuition. He does this in perfect harmony with the Bible.
2. The "self" is the soul and is made up of our mind, emotions, and will.
3. The Body is where the senses dwell, and is our shell. The Bible calls it the flesh.
When the Christian by an act of his will, brings his soul and body into subjection to the Spirit, he is then filled with the Spirit.
This can only be possible by comparing your life with the righteous standard set forth in the Bible and correcting yourself when found wrong and applying, 1 John 1:9!
BIBLE BIBLE BIBLE BIBLE BIBLE
WE rejoice with you in your choice to follow Christ' Soon you will learn that this opens a NEW KIND of living which fills life with all God has for those who daily yield to Him! It does not mean you are now perfect in actions, but that you have "changed directions."
The men and women of the Bible that God used as examples for our benefit are not exceptions, but should be looked at as the norm. We should want to be like them. We should never think that because the culture has changed we must change with it! The examples of godly men and women in the Bible are not relative to cultural change. They are constant and unchanging for all those who desire to serve God. Also, it is possible to experience the same wonderful blessings in our day as they did in their day, regardless of the situation.
SUGGESTIONS FOR CHRISTIAN GROWTH
Spiritual growth results from trusting Jesus Christ. "The righteous man shall live by faith" (Galatians 3:11). Once Christ has given us salvation we are to work that salvation into and out of every area of our lives. (Philippians 2:12).
